Summary of National Findings (Office of Applied Studies, NHSDA Series). Using NHSDA information collected from 1995 to 1997, the investigators identified a sample of 2,888 parent-child pairs, which included 114 children of alcohol-dependent parents and 2,774 children whose interviewed parent was not dependent on alcohol. In particular, 87% of lesbians reported alcohol use compared to 64% of women from the NHSDA study, and 84% of gay men used alcohol compared to 72% of the NHSDA male participants. |
