They first screened 1,700 participants in the Framingham Heart Study for 13 common variations - called single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) - in the NPPA and NPPB genes, looking for any correlation with levels of ANP and BNP. The team sifted through the DNA of nearly 30,000 people, looking for telltale single changes in the genetic code in the NPPA and NPPB regions. What we are doing with these learnings is to get information to shippers/handlers and try to make them more proficient in category management," says Mac Johnson, vice president of marketing for NPPB. |
