The task force is considering a wide area digital trunked system (the latest technology on the verge of release, as opposed to less spectrum-efficient analog systems) using 806 MHz channels as well as the NPSPAC channels (a group of channels set aside by the FCC for public safety) at 821 MHz.
IPSs are being held for NPSPAC and related Expansion Band licensees on a regional or statewide basis.
WASHINGTON -- On December 31, 2007, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) issued a Public Notice jointly extending the mandatory negotiation periods for border area non-NPSPAC (Stage 1) and NPSPAC (Stage 2) licensees in Wave 4 to April 1, 2008 and postponing the start of the mediation period for such licensees until April 2, 2008.
