The court awarded Meneely damages from other defendants besides NSPI, but it is the judgment against NSPI that worries standards organizations. Specifically, it is alleged that: (a) the Defendants knew or recklessly disregarded material adverse information about the Company's financial results and then existing business condition; and (b) the Company's financial statements were materially misstated due to the fact that NSPI failed to properly account for foreign transactions. Former NSPI counsel David Karmol joined the Washington staff of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) last year and was recently named Vice President of Public Policy and Government Affairs. |
