For March through May 2007, the NWS sees equal chances (white areas on Map with "EC") for normal, below-normal and above-normal precipitation across the bulk of U.
Since a majority of the public relies heavily on television or radio broadcasts to receive their weather information, the NWS Weather Forecast Offices (WFO) at Birmingham and Huntsville, Alabama, have formed a partnership with the local media in regards to severe weather related communications.
The NWS has been testing its Heat/Health Watch Warning System to provide the public with five days' advance notice of excessive heat events.
