Consistent with Carlton and Winsler's perspective, a report from the National Education Goals Panel report (Kagan, Moore, & Bredekamp, 1995) also identified several dimensions related to academic success: physical well-being and motor development; social and emotional development; approaches to learning (cognitive style); language development; and cognition and general knowledge. In July of 1990, the National Education Goals Panel (1999) came into being as a bipartisan committee operating under the executive branch. That meeting produced the National Education Goals and the appointment of a National Education Goals Panel consisting of eight governors, four congressional representatives, four state legislators and two members of the Bush administration. |
