Hundreds of small rocks and dust particles from space hit the Earth each year and the Near Earth Object information centre was on a list of recommendations set out by a Government task force to assess their threat.
Almost 126 years since Britain's only iron meteorite plummeted into a field in Shropshire, the British National Space Centre in Leicester has set up a Near Earth Object Information Centre.
The new Near Earth Object Information Centre, set up in response to the recommendations of the Government's Task Force on Near Earth Objects (NEOs), will be launched at the National Space Centre on April 18.
