In the new study, research team has found a link between the Val66Met (rs6265) polymorphism in the brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) gene and risk for post-treatment relapse among AD patients.
The ECT intraocular implant is a small device--the size of a grain of rice--containing cells that provide sustained delivery of a vision-preserving protein known as ciliary neurotrophic factor, which is delivered directly to the back of the eye in a controlled, continuous basis, thus bypassing the blood-retinal barrier and overcoming a major obstacle in the treatment of retinal disease.
One sampling of specific topics turns up metabolic syndrome in drug abuse, brain-derived neurotrophic factor in neuronal survival and behavior-related plasticity, nanodevices for neuro-modulation, and the effect of methylene blue and related redox dyes on monoamine oxidase activity as revealed by rats and frogs.
