Researchers tested several blowers against lice and their eggs, or nits, on 169 children with head lice.
Some schools require children to be nit-free for attendance, but the AAP and the National Association of School Nurses discourage no-nit policies, partly because the presence of nits only sometimes leads to live lice.
Using a fine-tooth comb to remove nits is an essential step in effectively treating lice, according to the CDC, but many parents say they don't have the experience or the time to comb through their kids' hair.
