At the meeting, we strongly expressed our wish for a separate role for the DON rather than a shared role; our concern about a manager taking on the acting role [no reflection against the person concerned] because of the conflicts of interest; and our strong sense that nominations for the nursing leadership council must come from the floor and not be people shoulder-tapped by charge nurses. This unique partnership between Oregon Health & Science University and several community colleges developed through the work of the Oregon Nursing Leadership Council (ONLC), to meet a goal of doubling enrollment in nursing programs in the state by 2010. Campbell also credits the visionary leadership of the Oregon Nursing Leadership Council (ONLC), who had the insight to bring all of the state's nursing profession components to the table in 2000 to begin dealing with the crisis in nursing. |
