For example, when surfers access an HTTPS site, the browser receives the server's certificate and queries the designated OCSP (online certificate status protocol) servers as to whether it is valid or has been revoked.
Online certificate status protocol (OCSP) support allows the devices to validate whether or not a client should be allowed to access an application or denied, by connecting to an external OCSP responder to ensure that the client certificate is valid and has not been revoked.
Meanwhile, ValiCert's support for the newly approved Online Certificate Status Protocol (OCSP) will make it possible for Entrust customers to check the validity of any digital certificate, whether issued by an Entrust/PKI or a non- Entrust/PKI source using OCSP.
