at Santa Clara has grown from a program offering seven classes for 132 members in 2004 to offering more than 40 courses with an expected enrollment of 750 members in the 2008-09 academic year.
Exercising Our Brains," which began at San Francisco State University in October 2005, is the first class of its kind to be offered on a national scale through the prestigious OLLI education network.
OLLI is made possible through grants from The Bernard Osher Foundation, which seeks to improve quality of life for individuals nationwide through post-secondary student scholarships and arts, cultural, and educational grants.
OLLI at UCI is one of the largest and most active OLLI communities on the West Coast with over 700 volunteer members, offering 130 courses per year.
OLLI at UCI is offering a half-year membership fee of $70 for the Spring 2007 term, valid from February 2007 - June 2007 and good for all OLLI at UCI course offerings.
OLLI members are people who are intellectually curious; people who are interested in discovering new facts and sharing new ideas; people who love to read, analyze and take part in spirited discussion.
We are overjoyed to receive this large endowment from the Bernard Osher Foundation," said Catherine Follett, president of OLLI at UC Irvine Extension.
We truly value the students in OLLI and their ongoing love of knowledge.
