Congress enacted Title III of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (the Wiretap Act), the Fair Credit Reporting Act in 1970, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, and the Right to Financial Privacy Act of 1978.
The Effect of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 and the Electronic Communications Privacy Act Title III of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (73) codified the Fourth Amendment principles set forth by the Katz Court.
