Under current law, the executive branch of government is subject to the Public Records Act, which is more stringent than the Legislative Open Records Act, which applies to the Legislature. In a private university setting, where a certified police force with full law enforcement powers is used, the public may be entitled to that force's documents compiled under the state's open records act. The request was made under the Montana Open Records Act. |
