The current rule allows OSHA to obtain multiple penalties against an employer for providing incorrect PPE, no PPE or incorrect training to employees. Called 'PPE--One Life, One Chance,' the presentation revolves around a day in a workplace, and what can happen if PPE is not worn. Streptococcus pneumoniae is a major PPE pathogen; however, antimicrobial pretreatment before pleural fluid (PF) sampling frequently results in negative diagnostic cultures, thus greatly underestimating the contribution of pneumococci, especially pneumococci susceptible to antimicrobial agents, to PPE. |
