The programs also include partial zero-emission vehicles such as hybrid-electric cars and methanol fuel cell powered cars.
These include cleaner versions of popular models (known as partial zero-emission vehicles, or PZEVs), and hybrid cars with both gas and electric motors to optimize fuel economy and reduce tailpipe pollution.
ARB'S stringent clean air rules have effectively forced the auto industry to produce new generations of low-emission vehicles, including gas-electric lay brids and so-called Partial Zero-Emission Vehicles (PZEVs), which are environmentally responsible versions of regular gasoline cars like the Honda Accord, Ford Focus, Toyota Camry and Dodge Stratus.
