So even as we prepare tomorrow's leaders for wide-ranging `ministries' in business, education, human services, psychology, health care administration and a variety of other fields, we also continue to "educate workers for the Church" as students prepare for careers in pastoral ministry, youth ministry and missions/global ministries. That Pastoral Provision has allowed about 80 married men, all former Episcopal priests, to continue utilizing their gift for pastoral ministry after Catholic conversion. Could part of the reason be that the "servant-leader" model of priesthood, which placed such a strong emphasis on pastoral ministry actually downplayed the importance of priestly intellect? |
