Underling in the importance of peaceful use of Nuclear energy for development Singh said: "Nuclear energy is vital to meeting our energy and developmental needs, particularly those of large developing countries like India.
The JNRC chairman highlighted the importance of the agreement in boosting the capability of the JNRC in regulating and monitoring the peaceful use of nuclear energy and providing protection against pollution.
In the Strategic Framework Declaration, issued in Sochi, Russia on April 6, 2008, the two leaders made clear that this agreement will create the necessary legal basis for expanded cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
