Today, autologous peripheral blood stem cell transplants are used in treatment and in clinical trials involving patients with a variety of diseases, among them breast cancer, myeloma and leukemia. The other process - peripheral blood stem cell donation or PBSC - requires several injections of a synthetic hormone that tells the marrow to produce more stem cells that are released into the blood. The money raised will be used to further develop the Company's intellectual property - including its proprietary methodology for processing and long-term storage of peripheral blood stem cells - operations, and marketing, and to build partnerships with medical institutions, physicians and pharmaceutical companies. |
