The 360-degree assessment has been exceedingly helpful to me as I structure and implement my personal development plan. A personal development plan results from establishing what you want to achieve or where you want to go, in the short- or long-term, and identifying the need for skills, knowledge or competence. The answer is to follow the personal equivalent of the organizational strategy-setting process, called strategic positioning: examine your environment (in this case, the organization); take an inventory of your personal strengths; decide where you want to be relative to the organization over the next several years; then create a personal development plan that will get you there. |
