This Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet, or PPPoE, basically allows you to have broadband access while still requiring that you to input a username and password first.
For OriNOCO's RG-1000 residential gateway product the software adds a point-to-point protocol over Ethernet feature and it adapts the implementation of Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol.
In addition the modem's router integrates a point-to-point protocol over Ethernet, eliminating the need to install software on client PCs.
