Based on the directive, as of July 1, 2006, the amount of lead, hexavalent chromium, mercury, cadmium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) is regulated in electrical and electronic equipment intended for Europe. The restriction of Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (RoHS) Directive limits the use of lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls and two polybrominated diphenyl ethers. The PBDE-99 used in the present study has been analyzed for impurities, and all results for brominated dioxins, furans, and coplanar polybrominated biphenyls were below the detection limits. |
