Although the benefits of sport participation have been of interest for some time, little research has examined the benefits of sport participation within the framework of positive youth development (Fraser-Thomas, Cote, & Deakin, 2005; Petitpas, Cornelius, Van Raalte, & Jones, 2005).
Specific papers address a diversity of topics: pediatric and family medicine resident communication skills, the level of knowledge about puberty by girls in Tehran, health behavior among Swedish adolescents, specific medical cases, intellectual disability, a positive youth development program in Hong Kong, delinquency, perceptions of parents, participation in physical activity, sexual and reproductive health, and obesity.
Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services (DYRS) is looking for individuals who like interacting with youths, are interested in improving public safety, and who would like to provide court-involved youths the opportunity to become productive citizens using Positive Youth Development principles.
