Neurologists define post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN) as pain that persists or recurs one or more months after the shingles rash has subsided. XP13512 is currently being examined as a treatment for both restless legs syndrome and post-herpetic neuralgia in separate Phase 2a clinical studies. The need for preventive treatment is critical because the arsenal of drugs available to counter post-herpetic neuralgia is small and not as potent as doctors would like. |
