Examples of the modes available on current ventilators are: Pressure Regulated Volume Control (PRVC) on the Servo-I and 300 ventilators (Maquet), Volume Ventilation Plus on the Puritan Bennett 840 ventilator and Autoflow on the Drager ventilators.
If the patient does not trigger the ventilator for 12 seconds (adults), 8 seconds (pediatric patients) or 5 seconds (neonates), Automode will switch the ventilator back to the control mode which maintains the parameters already set by the clinician: Pressure Regulated Volume Control (PRVC), Volume Control (VC), or Pressure Control (PC).
