Bowker described RCL as a database of "core titles" that will replace "Books for College Libraries" (49,000+ titles), last published in 1988.
The RCL was created by a panel of experts in 1983 and then reviewed, adapted, and ultimately approved by various Protestant church authorities.
To a few of the shorter biblical books, then, to see whether RCL and LM convey not the theology of the book but its main message.
