The Rapid II catalog features three spacecraft from TRW's family of lightweight spacecraft and includes derivatives of both the Total Ozone Mapping Spectrometer-Earth Probe built for NASA, which has exceeded its specified design life by 75 percent and continues to provide critical data on the earth's ozone layer; and ROCSAT-1, built for the Republic of China for scientific and earth remote sensing missions. ROCSAT-1 is based on the TRW small spacecraft family, a series of modular satellites whose flexible design is readily tailored to mission-specific requirements. The satellite is based on a modular bus design with multi-mission capabilities that has produced programs such as the Total Ozone Mapping Spectrometer-Earth Probe, the Earth Observing System Common Spacecraft, and the Republic of China's ROCSAT-1 spacecraft. |
