Medical management of acute kidney injury has traditionally consisted of supportive care, with renal replacement therapy implemented for the most severe cases.
Hugh Davies' PhD research project is investigating which continuous renal replacement therapy (haemofiltration or haemodiafiltration) is more efficient in terms of preserving the life of the haemofilter.
A proportion of such persons will have or develop renal failure requiring renal replacement therapy (hemodialysis or continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis [CAPD]).
