You cannot ride on a footpath, bridleway,cycle track, restricted byway,or road used as a public path (RUPP),except in the very limited situation where you have good evidence that these are actually vehicular roads (and you would have to prove this in court if challenged).
At present, the path is classified as a Road used as a Public Path (RUPP) but the Wildlife and Countryside Act requires that all RUPPs must be reclassified either as a byway open to all traffic, a bridleway or a footpath.
