van der Roer N, van Tulder M, van Mechelen W, de 94 Vet H. was the northern part of the Second World War pincer movement by Field Marshall Bernard Montgomery's 21st Army Group to clear the land between the Rhine and Roer rivers. Just beyond were the 8,302 Soldiers who had given their lives, mostly in the airborne, ground and air operations to liberate eastern Holland and advance into Germany over the Roer and Rhine rivers. |
