The engine nozzle built by Hellenic Aerospace Industry (which is also in charge of the rear fuselage section) has now been completed and mated to the Rolls-Royce Turbomeca Adour Mk 951 jet engine for testing.
The site, on the outskirts of Coventry, has been chosen as the worldwide support and service centre for the Rolls-Royce Turbomeca 322 helicopter engine, which entered full operational service with the Royal Navy this month and has a lifespan of 30-40 years.
The NH90 is powered by two 2158-kW Rolls-Royce Turbomeca RTM332-01/9 or T700-T6E1 engines, the latter jointly developed by General Electric, FiatAvio and Alfa Romeo Avio.
