The CCB originally consisted of the Royal Canadian Dragoons (RCD), Lord Strathcona's Horse (LSH), King Edward's Horse (an imperial unit), and the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery (RCHA). He commanded D Battery, 2d Regiment, Royal Canadian Horse Artillery (2 RCHA) in Petawawa, Ontario, Canada, in support of the Royal Canadian Dragoons.
