The Polymers business saw a 5% reduction in S-PVC prices for the year as a whole, but this was more than compensated for by an increase in sales volumes, mainly as a result of additional sales from the plant at Schkopau, Germany, acquired in 1998.
Most of this reduction was in the Polymers business where, as a result of the Asian economic crisis and the slowing of markets in Europe, S-PVC prices decreased by 12% year on year and VCM sales volumes halved.
440,000 tonnes of S-PVC, 75,000 tonnes of E-PVC and 170,000 tonnes of PVC compounds, per annum.
