One of the key factors that allows someone to drive the MDX in places like BeaveRun--or on I-75 at rush hour, for that matter--with a higher level of confidence is the SH-AWD system--the Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system. And before leaving the powertrain, it is worth noting that the SH-AWD system is modified from the one that was introduced in the 2005 Acura RL. SH-AWD is more than just a conventional four-wheel drive system with front-to-rear torque variation and, by means of a pair of electromagnetic clutches in the rear axle, is capable of proportioning the torque between left and right rear wheels. |
