The GEMnet2 is inter-connected with two R&E networks (Super SINET and JGN2) in Japan, as well as with several R&E networks in various worldwide countries via the US. The expanded SINET3 next generation network (NGN) consolidates the NII's existing SINET and SuperSINET infrastructures into the country's largest and most advanced research and education network. Providing both high-performance Ethernet frame-based and optical interconnection functionality, MAN LAN supports leading research networks from around the world including: Abilene, CANARIE, GEANT, HEANET, SINET, SURFnet, and Qatar Foundation. |
