Unlike newspapers and magazines, the publication of books does not officially require any permit similar to the notorious SIUPP.
Meanwhile, since the process to obtain SIUPP has been made easier since May 1998, the number of SIUPP issued by Department of Information for publishing in Jakarta up to February 1999 has reached 335 SIUPP, including 33 for newspaper, 157 for tabloid, 145 for magazines.
