Gill Edwards, RWEU project manager, said: "Breathing Space and SWEDA do excellent work to promote enterprise within their areas and these grants will help them to increase their activity.
Davinder Kaur, SWEDA manager, said: "We are delighted to receive these funds from Advantage West Midlands through the Regional Women's Enterprise Unit.
SWEDA axles, which are being shown to the general industry public for the first time at ConExpo-Con/Agg this month, are used on both Deere and Timberjack branded forestry equipment, primarily on 140 hp to 185 hp class machines.
According to Kevin Allen, Funk axle engineering manager, the new SWEDA axles share the same geartrain as the other 1400 axles, with the differences being mostly axle shaft seal design and structural changes.
The SWEDA axles now have face seals at the wheel end, along with a much smaller gap between the end of the housing and the flange to keep debris from the environment out as well as to retain oil.
