Isaac Luria was a sixteenth-century rabbi who lived in Safed, Palestine, after the expulsion of the Sephardim from Spain in 1492. Palestinians doted in 1929 in several cities including Jerusalem, Hebron and Safed. In the sixteenth century, the rabbis of Safed argued that the creation of the universe took place through an emanation of divine light that was, simultaneously, an act of divine speech. |
