Standoff air- and sea-launched cruise missiles are becoming increasingly vulnerable to advanced air defenses and have only limited capability against mobile, hardened, and deeply buried targets (HDBT) that create access denial.
The city was ablaze overnight as coalition warplanes and land and sea-launched cruise missiles rained down on 1,000 targets.
The bombs dropped by the planes are each twice as big as the sea-launched cruise missiles also dropped overnight.
