The national park includes a number of buildings and attractions that are straight out of American history including Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, Congress Hall, Washington Square, First and Second Bank of the United States, and Franklin Court.
During a war, inflation is something you might expect, but instead of permitting normal conditions to return, in 1816, Congress chartered the Second Bank of the United States, which aided and abetted ever more expansion and the creation of a boom-bust cycle.
But the financial turmoil caused by the war led to a second pernicious effect on the financial system--the resurrection of the bank in 1817 in the form of the Second Bank of the United States.
