Alterations in serotonin transporter expression in brain regions of rats exposed neonatally to chlorpyrifos. The short gene's protein, known as the serotonin transporter protein, may degrade connections in the brain's mood-regulation system by fostering intense serotonin activity, propose psychiatrist Daniel R. They have found that individuals who have a slightly abbreviated version of the gene for the so-called serotonin transporter rate higher in negative thoughts and feelings than those with a relatively long rendition of the gene. |
