In 1946, the Allies demanded that Switzerland return $58 million as settlement in full for the approximately $400 million it had received from Germany. The shares issued to the former Officer were part of a settlement in full of both claims for unpaid salary and claims for termination benefits, thus avoiding costly litigation. This gain is attributable to our settlement in full of certain of our operating subsidiary vendor financing obligations that were not resolved as part of the restructuring plan. |
