Recent advancements in constructivism and situated learning theory provide a solid rationale for employing problem-solving skills, authentic tasks, and collaboration. The need for active involvement is also central to situated learning theory (Lave & Wenger, 1991; Brown, Collins, & Duguid, 1996) and engagement theory (Kearsley & Shneiderman, 1998). This article describes the School Technology Leadership Initiative, an innovative graduate-level curriculum that addresses the technology needs of school administrators by synergistically blending national standards, situated learning theory, blended instruction, and technology tools. |
