Today, the sport of snowshoeing is enjoying a surge of popularity, marked by a 30% spike in snowshoe sales between 2005 and 2008, according to SnowSports Industries America, a nonprofit trade group representing snow sport businesses.
Sales figures reported by SnowSports Industries America, a ski industry trade group, show sales of Telemark gear has been increasing by about 10 percent per year, while sales of traditional cross-country ski equipment have been flat, or even in decline.
The western sales and marketing manager for SnowSports Industries America (SIA), Dave Wray, agrees, saying he knows of no USA or Canadian resorts that ban diesel-fuel cars or plan to.
