Efforts to keep the 18-hole course as ecologically sound as possible have won it a Sports Turf Research Institute award, backed by Natural England.
Subsequently, fully independent testing was carried out by the Sports Turf Research Institute on both materials, culminating in a report which indicated that, of the two materials, Viscoride was the most suitable to be taken forward for further research and testing.
Within a few years of opening and with the support of club members, the Sports Turf Research Institute was called in to make the first of their ecological and environmental assessments of the course.
