Phylogenetic analysis confirmed that TAGV is a nairovirus (Figure 4, panel B; online Technical Appendix Figure 3).
An alignment of the putative RNA-dependent RNA polymerase revealed that TAGV also has this domain (Figure 5), which includes 3 highly conserved blocks.
Intracerebral inoculation of TAGV into "infant" mice caused death, suggesting some level of virulence (30).
