TSQ (Triple-stage-quadrupole) mass spectrometers are important for pharmacokinetics studies for drug discovery and development because of the analysis speed that can be achieved and the sensitivity with which small molecules, biomolecules or peptides can be detected. A subset of phytoplankton samples was validated to confirm the presence of DA (by mass) using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) on a ThermoFinnigan Quantum Discovery Max TSQ ESI Mass Spectrometer coupled to a HP 1100 series binary pump HPLC, following the general protocol of Quilliam et al. Thermo Electron also launched the Heated Electrospray Ionization (H-ESI) Probe for its TSQ triple quadrupole. |
