A shining silver version of the splendid Tatra T87 saloon car, made in Czechoslovakia with its monocoque shell structure, rear engine, three headlights and energy-efficient streamlined shape (unlike most cars even today) is one of the highlights of the show, and one of the very few cars ever made that can really be called beautiful. Gallery, 1971-72, in Slovakia's High Tatra Mountains (inaccessible to all but expert climbers) plays on the fictional geography of art institutions. The results are growth above all, selling what can be sold, proposals to organize the Winter Olympics in the tiny (in comparison to the Alps) national park of the Tatra Mountains and to construct new dams on the Vistula river. |
