Letts Wheeler designed the Natureworks, an exhibition gallery for water and terrestrial ecology poised over the park's largest pond at the edge of a small coppiced wood, It is an elegant little pavilion, made as far as possible out of standard components on a steel frame structure. Sparks of the Institute of Terrestrial Ecology in Cambridgeshire, England, tracked the nesting habits of 36 bird species throughout the United Kingdom. During the next two years, researchers from five collaborating universities will assist the institute in monitoring water-acidity changes and other effects of the experimental liming on aquatic and terrestrial ecology. |
