Texaco is making a billion-dollar bet on Brazil to boost its maturing reserves--and keep its shareholders happy. Calling a boycott of Texaco ``well-intentioned but misdirected,'' state Treasurer Matt Fong urged Monday that penalties for racial discrimination at the oil company be directed against its top executives. Chevron Global Marketing today announced that it has reached an important milestone of 2,000 branded Texaco stations in more than 20 states in the United States since July 2004, when the company began marketing gasoline under the Texaco retail brand. |
